Practice with Purpose

This is Charlotte,  someone dear to me and who I rarely see.  For many years she was my client, then she was my daughter’s client and now she is being seen by my daughter’s niece.

So when I think about it, we, as a family, have become engaged not on a day to day friendship basis but rather on a caring basis.  We care about her. When she lost her husband we grieved for her. And when we lost our Charlotte… she grieved for us.

I spent the Christmas holidays with my family in Florida and I took this opportunity to visit Charlotte. We talked over lunch and I joked that she now has the same hair color as me. I think I  have owned the grey longer than her.  It was an hour to connect after years of isolation due to Covid and my move to North Carolina.  But that hour was precious.  I realized the depth of gratitude I had for her and the trust she had put in me to take care of her with MLD.

She told me how she hated massage, pedicures basically any touch service but MLD was something else: it put her in a completely different state: it opened her awareness of her body, she began to sense herself, her needs and she began to heal and from this journey a deep bond between us had formed.  I had thought her not long for the world when I met her, but now more than 30 years forward she is well, no not super active, but happy and at peace in her home, in her life. Surrounded by her beautiful orchids.

As many of you know I am on my own healing journey from the heartbreak of loss but I am on the path now and what I know is that I am aided by the many wonderful  people who have entered my life, many who come in the guise of students  but provide learning.   Whether from years past or most recently I am so deeply touched by the experience, by the trust and by the compassion.  This business of touching crosses the realms of tangible. ..to infinite.

This is my expression of gratitude to you all and for once again regaining a sense of purpose.

Thank you.
