An Important Message From ASTECC

Dear All,

Last week I attended a talk & film on the impacts of  Fracking by Earth Justice, the non-profit law group that I worked with for a number of years on international projects.

The overview was frightening—for our nation as a whole, and California has ½ of US shale oil, as we have four levels of shale with projected oil that makes fraking a “must do”, and there is no legislation nor reporting yet required in my state.

There are some 550 plus chemicals used in the process, none requiring disclosure, and this bill is only on federal lands, though in CA, most is private.

Chemicals aside, it is the amount of public fresh water that is used—along with the chemicals that is astounding.

Each fracking well uses between 2-10 million gallons of fresh water, blended with the chemicals…….

I look forward to the day that we will have enough members, advisors & a full board of 13, to add our voice into the mix.
